What can I expect after an acupuncture treatment?
After a person receives acupuncture treatment, he or she will experience a sense of general well-being and relaxation. Individuals often feel an improvement in sleep quality, digestion and overall energy levels. Since acupuncture heals the body through natural techniques, side effects are very rare. Acupuncture is safe for persons of all ages including children and the elderly, although treatment for the elderly is usually done to reduce discomfort and manage a stable condition.

Is acupuncture painful?

When obtaining the correct stimulus with the needle, a patient may feel some cramping, heaviness, tingling, distention or electrical sensation either around the needle or traveling up or down the affected meridian or energy pathway. These sensations are generally mild with very little discomfort, if any at all.

Are the needles clean?

All needles are FDA approved, pre-sterilized with ethylene gas, used once and discarded into medical waste containers to eliminate the possibility of transmitting communicable diseases.

What should I wear?

Wearing loose fitting clothes that can be easily rolled up above your elbows and knees will usually suffice. It is also recommended to refrain from wearing dresses as needling the back may be the preferred method of treatment, however, if you are wearing a dress it will not stop you from being treated.
